How is it played?

You start with 1 sheet of newspaper for each child placed on the floor you then ask all the children to find a piece of newspaper and sit on it. You then ask the question, “If you are good dancer put your hand up”? You select one child with their hand up and bring them out to the front asking them their name and favourite song,

You then explain to everyone that they have to copy the dancer at the front but as soon as the music stops they all have to sit on the newspaper as quickly as they can. You play the favorite song and the game begins, when the music stops all the children sit down on their paper, you then ask was that easy or was that hard? To which the reply is always easy. You then ask all the children to fold the paper in half, give a prize to the dancer at the front and a new dancer is selected, but this time when the music stops they have to kneel on the paper.

This procedure is repeated with different dancers and different tasks every time the paper is folded until it’s so small it can no longer be folded. The children then have to hold the paper in their hand jumping up and down waving the newspaper about until the music stops, when the music stops they all have to open the newspaper back up to full size and sit on the paper, the first one to sit on the fully opened paper wins

Number of children: all of them

Suitable for Age range: 4years – 8years

Add bubbles for maximum effect

Best time to play this game: Normally after the food as they finish eating the children have to then find a piece of newspaper and sit on it

How is it played?

Simple you ask the children to sit down in a circle, with their legs crossed; you then give each child a 2p and ask them to place it on the floor in front of them, where they can see it. You then give the birthday person the “box”.

When the music is started the box is passed when the music stops the person who has the box in their hands is out, that person then picks up their 2p places it in the box and leaves the circle. This continues as fast or as slow as best fits the age, until the last two people are left they then have to sit 2m apart facing each other, legs crossed, the music is started only this time the box is slid between the last two remaining players back and forth until the music is stopped, if the box is sliding towards player 1 when the music stops that player is out and places their 2p in the box, making player no 2 the winner the winner keeps the box and all the 2p’s

Number of children 6- 30

Suitable for Age range 5years – 7years

Best time to play this, just before the food, then when each child is out they can get food and drinks
