Event name:   Barr Beacon Language College Leaver’s Prom
Event date:   27/06/2008
Venue:   The Kings Suite @ Birmingham Hilton

Barr Beacon Language College year 11 leaver’s prom held at the Kings Suite within the Birmingham Hilton Hotel on Friday the 27th of June

Best access to this venue ever you just open the huge doors and drive in! (After talking nicely to security that is)

As with most proms you have to at some point vote for your prom King, Queen, Prince’s and Princesses this was done early doors with all votes scrutinised and counted by Ms Westwood & Mrs Derham

Brilliant organisational skills of Miss Draycott ensured there was never a dull moment, the nights events included Mad Max a Rodeo Bull, a full on shooting range, a chocolate fountain food for all free drinks(for us) and of course one first rate, top notch disco.

Proms do vary from area to area as does the music requested our philosophy is simple, play the music people ask to hear and want to dance to and you can’t go wrong. Our dance floor was packed, rammed, heaving, filled to the brim all night long but the floor breaker was Whigfield’s Saturday night!!

As a disco service we offer all our prom engagers the choice of games or no games, we did have four games lined up and ready to go. The Loo Roll Game, The Drinking Game, The Dummy Spitting game and my very unique Balancing Game featured here are Liam, Faye, Matt & Carly who took part in our drinking game.

Over 220 people voted for the King, Queen, Prince’s and Princesses with the votes in and counted then recounted the winners were: Princesses: Jenna & Lia Prince’s: Shane & Dale, Barr Beacon Prom King & Queen 2008 Callum & Kelly who later went on to win the best couple award as well.

There were sum 25 other awards, some of which included best beard award that went to a guy with no beard? I was a little fazed by this (perhaps he shaved on his moms instruction just for the prom) Grooviest dancers April & Marcus although in a mini dance of Marcus scored higher and there was the smiler of the year this had to go to Rachel just look at that smile ………….

There were also awards for best sportsman & sportswoman, best Chav & Chavette (shout out to Ryan) best girl & guy (shout out to Monique) best Juliet & Romeo (shout out to Roxanne) and of course the best teacher, this award has to go to Mr Kilvert who got slightly confused and thought he had just won the best rear of the year!!Mr Kilvert

Getting the music balance just right is one of the things we do best (well apart from providing the best mobile disco in the UK) We did play a lot of cheese and some of it really did make me cringe for example the most requested song …. Not some banging dance tune Oh no not for Barr Beacon the most requested song was the Macarena ….. True

However putting that to one side (or in he bin if you prefer) there were some serious dance tunes requested and played.

No prom is complete without a dig at the teachers and look out Mr Chamberlin & Mrs Jones because this year it’s you. In a totally un-rehearsed, unscripted dance off Mrs Jones (now star of the big screen) thrashed Mr Chamberlin with her stunning spins, turns & cartwheels

Thanks here to Adam who took control and conducted six lines over 100 people in the moves of oops up side your head

The end of a prom can be quite emotional for some, as a DJ I hate to see people crying at my gigs so we used a shortened version of Viva Forever by the Spice Girls (as this was the song used in the pre-prom assembly) followed by Heartbeat (Scouting for Girls not Buddy Holly) as our last two songs

Our show three was the equipment used + 2 extra subs + 2 x moving head lasers + 2 x 6ft square projector screens, live camera + an extra 8 Par 56 Cans.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL

Event Organizer Miss Lindsey Draycott Writes:

Thank you, yet again, for our Year 11 Prom evening - the feedback from all our students was amazing. Everyone was really chuffed at the end of the evening and that was down to Dave Dee and his team for making the evening so different.

We at Barr Beacon were impressed with Dave’s professional, friendly approach along with his sense of humour and the excellent music choice. We really appreciated Dave’s contact before the event to make final preparations and discuss music choice, games and extras he could offer to improve the night.
Dave’s repertoire of games amazes us every year and this year was no exception!!!
Dave has a great team that assist throughout the evening so much so I have already received compliments from students, parents and staff regarding his high quality equipment and how the students were captured on the big screens used during the evening.
Dave really contributed to what was a wonderful evening. He made everyone feel really relaxed and comfortable and provided a great atmosphere to celebrate.
We are delighted to have the best DJ in the area as part of our ongoing success at Barr Beacon Language College.
Dave Dee is an outstanding DJ who always delivers to make our students go home happy but exhausted.
Dave helped to make our Prom really special we would certainly recommend the service he provides.

Again Thanks

Miss L Draycott
